Lighting for nano desktop tank (2.5 gal) that won't kill the eyes?

Discussion

I have weirdly sensitive eyes and am cycling a rimless, lidless 2.5 gallon nano tank on my desk right now. I've tried the Aquatop models (weird colors + weird mounting angle) and the Hygger 6W (way too red + not quite as bright as I'd like it) before landing on the Aquaneat 12 inch.

The Aquaneat has great colors but for whatever reason reflects the light off the surface of the water directly into my eyes. I've tried adding a translucent film over the LEDs, blacking out the first row of white LEDs with electrical tape, and mounting the light higher (which reduced the glare but made the light leak all over my desk while leaving the tank too dark) to little avail.

I tried a cheap desk lamp too but I don't think it's bright enough for my rotala, nor do I think it'd show of my future neos' colors well.

Basically looking for something with the Aquaneat's color profile but more adjustable I guess. I was going for budget options but I'd shell out for a Fluval etc. at this point if it means being able to use my desk again without obsessing over this. I will try the Seaoura next, which looks like a good option, but I'm not sure what to do if I have some silly problem with that one too.
