Dumped my whole NUAI position on +20% move
Sold everything, not trimming, all of it. Figured I'd explain why since it's less about NUAI's actual business and more about what's coming up on the calendar.
August PPI dropped September 10. CPI for August is September 11. Senate's got a cloture vote on the CLARITY Act lined up for September 15. FOMC decision is September 15-16. BOJ meets September 16-17.
Five catalysts, one week. Two central banks deciding rates back to back, plus inflation data right before, plus a Senate vote that's going to suck up a ton of attention toward crypto/digital assets specifically.
If I'm the one running NUAI and I've got a Tenant or PPA deal ready to announce, I'm not touching this week. You want that kind of news to land when people are actually paying attention and there's liquidity to absorb it properly, not when everyone's staring at the Fed and the BOJ. Drop it now and it just gets lost in the noise, or worse, sold into because the whole tape is red for reasons that have nothing to do with your announcement.
And honestly that's the thing with NUAI in general, you can't just look at it on its own. Small cap, thin float, high beta, tied to the whole AI infra trade. When the broader market gets shaky from a Fed surprise or a BOJ hike scare, NUAI's going down with it regardless of what the company itself is doing. September's also historically a rough month for stocks overall, so there's a decent chance the next couple weeks are just market noise more than anything NUAI-specific.
I'll say this too, since it's part of why I sold instead of just holding. I've had this stock since it was barely over a dollar, and looking back I've left a lot of money on the table by holding through swings instead of trading them. Swing trading a stock this volatile actually works, up to a point. The problem is greed, or attachment, or whatever you want to call it, holding through a 20% move because you think there's more coming, then watching it round trip back down before the next leg. I've done that more than once with this name. At some point you have to admit the swings themselves are the opportunity, not just riding the position from the bottom.
Plan is to buy back in somewhere between $4.80 and $5.20 if it pulls back. That's just my own level, not telling anyone else what to do here.
Not financial advice, I'm not an advisor, just how I'm thinking about it. Share your opinions with me.
TL:DR: Sold my full NUAI position on the +20% move, all shares, no partial. Reasoning is the calendar, not the company: August PPI (Sept 10), August CPI (Sept 11), CLARITY Act cloture vote (Sept 15), FOMC decision (Sept 15-16), and BOJ meeting (Sept 16-17) all stack into one week. Bad week for a company to drop Tenant/PPA news, and NUAI moves with the broader tape regardless of its own fundamentals when volatility like this hits. Held since just over $1 and left money on the table before by not swing trading this name properly. Selling into strength this time. Planning to buy back between $4.80 and $5.20 on a pullback.
