Are there paid internships for law students that can realistically cover basic living expenses?

Ask Lawschool India❓

I’m currently a partial dropper and I’ve done an internship under a High Court advocate. He paid me ₹6,000 for the internship, but honestly, most of that money ended up going towards petrol and small expenses whenever I was asked to pay for something.

He still says that the fact that he paid me ₹6,000 itself is a very big deal, and I understand that internships under individual advocates often aren’t paid.

The reason I’m asking is that if I manage to get into an NLU, I’m worried about the financial side of it. My parents would have to manage both my college fees and my living expenses, and I really don’t want to become an even bigger financial burden on them.

So, are there actually paid internships for law students where you can make something like ₹5–10k a month, especially if you're from a decent NLU? I’m not expecting the ₹30k+ stipends that some students from top colleges of engineering students get

Even ₹6k–10k would genuinely help me. If I could earn enough during internships to cover 2–3 months of my basic personal expenses, it would take some pressure off my parents.

I’m mainly asking because I have no idea how realistic this is in law. Is getting a consistently paid internship something I can work towards after getting into an NLU, or are paid internships still very rare?
