Trouble with tonsil stones/bad breath despite rigorous oral hygiene routine
So I recently started to get tonsil stones and i'm not sure why? I am pretty rigorous about my oral hygiene. For context my routine is:
- I use a fluoride toothpaste
- I use a non alcoholic mouthwash as I heard the alcoholic ones can leave mouth dry, contributing to the formation of tonsil stones
- floss in between teeth with oral b glide pro health deep clean
- Use tongue scrapper to remove any remaining debris
- finish with saltwater gargle
- I also use Therabreath mints after each meal for refresh and to keep mouth damp, again to avoid dryness
- I do this routine once at night and once in the morning and after large meals like dinner
I am really stumped as to why the stones keep forming. My tonsils are not even very large. I guess other factors would be that I have a pollen allergy and if I don't take an antihistamine I notice post nasal drip so that could be contributing. I do eat/drink dairy so i'm aware that can contribute. I have a dentist appointment coming up in two months so hopefully they will be able to clear this up for good but in the meantime does anyone have any advice?
