Gaming headphones and earbuds never working during games

I have a gaming headphone and earbud with a 2.4 USB dongle. I noticed that I'm able to speak loud and clearly during work and Zoom meetings, however, whenever I play games, everyone remarks they can barely hear me. I went to the Windows menu to test the input volume which I set at 100%, but when I click start test and talk in my normal tone and volume, it only shows up as 6%. I don't get it. Anyone know how to fix this so people can hear me during games? I've tried different settings and there is no boost mode available. Any fixes or alternatives?
