How do i make friends as a 1st year student????

I’m a first-year student doing my BA in Psychology and I don’t know anybody. I want to make friends in my classes and in my major that I can actually hang out with and study with, but I genuinely have no idea how to approach people and how to make friends in uni. Everyone kind of leaves after class and you have a 5 hour gap and I’d really like to have people to spend time with during that gap, but i dont know how to find and befriend them. It’s so different from high school.

I’m feeling really lost and I’m scared I’ll end up alone. How did you guys make friends in first year? Any advice pls!!
