What is it with this one series and its fans?

Ok, so I know that pretty much everyone who's been on tiktok has heard of or even interacted with Boys of Tommen and its creators. I actually just recently finished it and while I enjoyed it, it was no where near a literary masterpiece people make it out to be. In fact I was genuinely confused with two main things: people brushing over problematic things that the main characters have done and also the fans themselves. I actually just removed myself from the fandom space because I literally could not take it anymore.

There are just so many problematic things in the series itself: mysogynistic comments made my the main characters, literal smut scenes of underage characters, and multiple fmcs SA'ing their love interest. Now, I understand how personal these books/stories are to some people so I'm not going to bash on any characters in particular.

But I just have to say that the people in this fandom have got to be some of the most foul people I've ever met(ik not everyone's like this). I've seen people mocking character's ED, SA, substance ab*se. For a series that is literally created on the premise of anti-bullying, it astonishes me how it's fandom literally brought together the biggest bullies ever. It's genuinely so sad to see.

There are solo stans of one particular character who are the biggest culprits(I think y'all all know whom I'm talking about). Mind you their own fav struggles with SA, bi polar disorder, SH, and her fans are the same ones who are mocking and belittling other characters and REAL WORLD TRAUMA. All of this over what? A book series?

Does anyone else feel this way or had a similar experience like this?
