I got cancer, and suddenly my 3-year relationship got cancer too
So I just wanted to share something that happened to me, because sometimes life really shows you how unfair—and ironic—this world can be 😂
About 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 cancer. Alhamdulillah, I’m good now and everything is under control.
At the time, I was in a relationship that had already been going on for 3 years. I didn’t tell her about my cancer at first not because I didn’t trust her, but because I didn’t want to feel like a burden to anyone.
Eventually, she found out.
And suddenly, the excuses started coming. “Tla3ti lia f rassi,” and all that. I could feel things changing, so I told her, “Okay, if you feel like this relationship is too much, we can break up.”
And boom… she hit me with: “I want to break up. Maqadach nqablek.” 💀
Like… girl, I literally didn’t even ask you to stay 😭😂
Then came the explanation: she has depression, she wants to be alone, and she wants to spend the rest of her life alone.
Hahahaha… ayeeh ayeeh**, Taya9t.** 😂
The funny thing is, I never blamed her for not being able to handle the situation. Everyone has their limits, and I can understand that cancer can scare people.
What hurt was realizing that someone I spent 3 years with apparently saw me differently the moment I became “the guy with cancer.”
Anyway, Alhamdulillah I’m doing well now. And honestly, the biggest lesson I took from all of this is:
You really find out who people are when life stops being convenient.
Sometimes the trash really does take itself out. 😃
