Best way to get bottled-water quality in an apartment?

Residential Treatment

I've been trying to figure out how to get water that's as close as possible to high-quality bottled water at home, but researching this has been frustrating.

A lot of the information out there seems dominated by shills, affiliate marketers, sponsored reviews, and disguised advertising. It's not just websites either. Reddit recommendation threads often seem to have the same problem, which makes it hard to know what's trustworthy.

My situation:

  • I live in an apartment in Canada.
  • My landlord has approved whatever installation I want.
  • I have chemical sensitivities, so reducing contaminants is important to me.
  • I've used a Big Berkey with Black Berkey filters, but it still didn't work out for me. I continued having issues that I suspect were related to my chemical sensitivities, and it also seemed to cause some digestive upset.
  • I'm concerned about ingesting mold spores, biofilm, or anything else that could grow inside a filtration system.
  • Cost isn't the main concern if the result is significantly better water.

At this point, bottled water is the only thing I've consistently tolerated, but I'd really like to get away from it. Between the potential microplastics, the cost, the constant trips to buy and haul it home, the space it takes up, and the environmental impact, it's becoming hard to justify long-term.

If your goal was the highest practical water quality in an apartment, what would you actually buy today? I'm especially interested in specific brands/models and why you'd choose them.

Looking for advice from people with real-world experience, not marketing copy.

Thanks in advance :)
