I’m not a doctor, but I know a motorbike won’t run on vibes!

I posted my framework yesterday dealing with the foundational baseline for a human to thrive, and I noticed from the comments that it generated a fair bit of debate. I think my intent may have been conflated with a clinical mental health guide, an optimization program, or a manual for figuring out neurodivergence.
This is not that.
I am not a doctor, but I know how to check a system. My framework is not a cure or a replacement for therapy; it is a pre-diagnostic baseline filter. To show you what I mean, let us look at how we treat mechanical systems.
If a motorbike breaks down on the side of the road, a mechanic does not start by tearing apart the engine block to look for a micro-fracture. They do not immediately reprogram the ECU.
Instead, they check the Holy Trinity of Internal Combustion:
Fuel: Is there energy in the tank?
Spark: Is there an ignition source?

Compression: Is the physical structure holding pressure?
If there is no fuel, the spark cannot catch. Without combustion, you do not get compression. If any of these baseline requirements are missing, the bike is just an expensive paperweight. The bike is not fundamentally defective or broken, it is just missing a baseline input.

The Symptom Collection Trap
Right now, the modern mental health space is completely obsessed with collecting symptoms.
When our bodies start shuddering, stalling, and smoking from sheer exhaustion, we immediately assume we have a massive structural issue. We look at the smoke and say, "I have severe clinical depression," or "My autism is making me entirely non-functional."
But trying to diagnose a complex psychological or neurological condition while your biological machine is out of fuel is a waste of time. You cannot accurately diagnose a timing issue on an engine that will not even start.

Clearing the Noise
To clear up the confusion from yesterday, this framework is not a solution for acute external crises like domestic abuse or physical danger. If you are in active danger, you are in survival mode, and a self-guided framework is obviously not your priority.
This framework is simply a mechanical triage tool that asks:
Are the biological inputs met? (Fuel and Sleep)
Is the machine physically capable of registering safety? If you are starving and exhausted, your nervous system is flooded with cortisol. This makes it physically impossible to feel safe, even in a perfectly secure room.
Are we clearing the signal noise?

Fuel the Engine First
Absolute safety from the chaos of the world is an illusion. If we wait for our environments or our lives to be completely perfect before we take care of our bodies, we lock ourselves out of recovery entirely.
We check the baselines first. We fix the sleep lines. We put fuel in the tank.
If the engine still shudders after the fundamental inputs are met, then you have your real answer. That is when a clinical diagnosis, targeted therapy, or neurodivergent accommodations make perfect sense. You are finally looking at a real structural issue, not just a starved machine.
Before you call the tow truck, check the tank.
