How layoff are decided

Hello all

I work in Microsoft as tse and i was hired an year back immediately after I passed out of college with a program where hiring is still going on for other technology

My technology is one of the toughest to support

I'm hearing layoff rumours for our team from last month from many people.

I got a decent hike this time well there were others with less hike and performance issues

Will I be laid off now or will layoff Happen only once in the financial year which has already happened in Microsoft and other companies

FYI 3 people were removed from my team after multiple warning from beginning

I want to know where I stand and should I start applying atleast so I can know what level I am in
