Advice on re-homing a dog?

I hate having to make this post but I need some advice.

Me and my wife (both 21f) have 2 dogs and a cat. We have an older dog who is turning 9 and a younger dog who just turned 1. I’ve had the older dog since she was able to be separated from her mom, she was a family dog but always mine. We got the younger dog again once it was safe to be separated from her mom. Until very recently our dogs have gotten along very well, there wasn’t even a period of tension in the beginning. The older dog grew up around other dogs and had been lonely without another dog in the home.

Unfortunately our living situation has changed and we are now in a smaller apartment that has a big yard but we cant sit out there with them like we used to while they play. The younger dog is a mix of husky, pit, mt cur and lab so VERY energetic. She doesn’t have the same outlet here and it doesn’t matter how many times we take her out for walks a day, she misses and needs the freedom she used to have.

Because of that, she’s been overwhelming our older dog who is now starting to snap at her when it’s too much. We don’t have the means to separate them in our apartment without keeping one locked in a room and thats not right.

We really don’t want to but I feel it’s become a matter of loving her and not wanting to re-home her is actually doing more harm than good. We have no idea the best way to go about it though. The very last thing we want is to re-home her with someone who won’t take care of her. If you’ve ever had to re-home a dog any advice on the best way to go about it would be extremely helpful
