Scanner apps?

Im reading a beginner trading book by Andrew Aziz. Trying to get a solid foundation and understanding of day trading and the things I’ll need to make a serious career. He mentioned having a “scanner app” that would help find stocks. Has anyone used them? Since this was my first time hearing of them I wanted to know a little more information. What are some good ones?
