I think I fell into the same trap a lot of gamers do.

my setup kept getting better, but the chair stayed the same because it looked like the least exciting thing to upgrade.

I had the usual racing-style gaming chair. It looked great in photos, matched the setup, and honestly felt pretty comfortable when I first bought it.

the problem only showed up after a few hours.

I would slowly slide forward, lean into weird positions, and somehow end up sitting everywhere except where the chair was supposed to support me.

for a while I thought I just needed a better gaming chair. maybe more padding, maybe a bigger backrest, maybe a more expensive version of the same thing.

then I started wondering if the whole racing seat design just wasn't made for how I actually spend my time.

I'm not sitting like I'm driving a car. I'm playing games, watching videos, talking on Discord, sometimes working.

ended up switching to a nouhaus ergo3d and it honestly felt strange at first because it didn't have that “gaming chair” feeling.

but after a while I realized I wasn't constantly fighting the chair anymore.

still slouch sometimes, obviously.

I'm not suddenly a perfect posture person.

I just don't end up feeling destroyed after a long gaming session anymore. I can finally spend an entire night grinding through Elden Ring without getting up feeling like my lower back took more damage than my character.

maybe the weird part is that a lot of us spend thousands building a gaming setup, but never question the thing we physically spend the most time on.

I spent years looking for a better gaming chair. turns out I needed a less “gaming” chair
