Meta is showing 7 different ads to the same people… but is that actually bad?
I’m curious if anyone else has run into this.
I recently started working on a new local business account and initially put 7 different creatives inside one ad set.
Pretty quickly, I noticed something I wasn’t expecting:
Ad set frequency was climbing quite fast, while the frequency of the individual ads was still pretty normal.
At first I thought, “Okay, frequency is getting high.”
But then I looked at the individual ads and realized they weren’t actually being shown that many times.
So I started wondering if Meta is basically doing something like:
Person sees Ad 1 → a few days later Ad 2 → then Ad 3 → then another angle…
So they aren’t necessarily seeing the same ad repeatedly, but Meta is still repeatedly reaching that person through different creatives.
And honestly, I couldn’t decide if that’s actually a good thing or a bad thing 😂
On one hand, it almost feels like Meta is creating its own little sequence.
Different creative → different angle → different message → maybe eventually a conversion.
But the other side of my brain is like:
“Bro… are we actually moving this person closer to becoming a lead, or are we just finding 7 different ways to spend the client’s money?” 😂
I’m especially curious because this wasn’t really a case of having some tiny audience where high frequency would obviously be expected.
So I’m wondering how other media buyers look at this.
When you have 5–7 creatives inside one ad set, do you pay more attention to the overall ad-set frequency or the frequency of each individual ad?
And if ad-set frequency is climbing quickly while individual ads still look healthy, would you consider that a warning sign?
Or is this just normal Meta behavior when you give it multiple creatives?
I have my own theory, but I’m not completely convinced I’m looking at it the right way.
Would genuinely love to hear what you guys have seen across real accounts.
