You are not entitled to cheap concert tickets
There seems to be a pervasive opinion on this site that artists are being greedy by charging market value for tickets, and that fans deserve affordable prices.
I find this incredibly entitled. Concert tickets are the ultimate luxury good. You will not die if you don't go to a show. And you certainly won't die if you don't go specifically to see one of the most famous artists in the world. I can walk around downtown for 10 minutes find some pretty good music either for free or for some trivial cover charge.
Some people really want a Lamborghini. Maybe they've been a Lamborghini fan for years; they've had posters on their walls since they were a kid, etc. But they don't have $300,000 to spare, so they don't drive a Lamborghini. They drive a Honda Civic. It's not their preference, but it gets them where they need to go just fine. Being a huge Lambo fan doesn't mean you're entitled to own one. I don't really see how this is any different.
There's a fundamental problem with very popular musical acts: there are more people that would like to go to the show, than there are tickets available. So how do we, as a society, decide which of those people get to go? Currently it's decided by who's willing to pay the most money. People want it to be something else, something that just so happens to benefit them personally. For example, maybe they want it to be based on who can reload the page fastest, and they just so happen to have the technical savvy and the schedule flexibility to take advantage of that system.
The point is, lowering prices doesn't actually let more people see the show. It lets different people see the show. It lets you personally see the show, at the expense of someone else. What actually lets more people go? Having more tickets available, for example by playing more shows. And one way to incentivize that is to make it so the artist makes as much money as they can.
