Images: 588nm (LPSish), 1800K (HPSish), 3000K (original)

A little follow-up to my previous Skilhunt H200 mod where I replaced the red XP-E2 with a 588 nm amber XP-E2 to get a low-pressure-sodium-ish mode.

Apparently that wasn't enough sodium vapor for one headlamp, so I replaced the two 3000K Nichia 519As as well. 😂

They're now Nichia 519A-V1 1800K LEDs, which give a really nice HPS-like warm orange/golden light while still retaining actual color rendering.

So the H200 now basically has two sodium lamp modes:

**2× 519A 1800K → “HPS mode”**
**1× XP-E2 588 nm → “LPS mode”**

Obviously neither is a literal reproduction of the discharge-lamp spectra — the 1800K 519A is still a phosphor-converted white LED and the 588 nm XP-E2 is much broader than the sodium D-lines — but visually the comparison is ridiculously fun.

The biggest difference is color perception. 1800K looks *extremely* warm, but the world is still colorful. Switch to 588 nm and suddenly almost all color information disappears. Outdoors at night the latter is especially weird; after a few minutes your brain adapts to it surprisingly well.

I took both modes into the basement for some highly scientific testing involving stacks of books. 😅 My Insta360 also does a surprisingly good job of just accepting the orange illumination instead of trying to white-balance it away, so the pictures look pretty close to what I actually see.

Completely unnecessary mod. 10/10, would sodium-vapor my headlamp again. 🧡
