TL;DR: In most game states, Maushold is worse off on average. However, it may feel better in practice due to the cognitive biases afforded by Backtrack Badge preventing complete whiffs, and if you can manage to get a full board set up, it'll perform a bit better.

Remember to use SSP Maushold's Familial March to get some extra copies on the field! This will let you play down more Tandemaus earlier to evolve once your Active gets knocked out.
