2 months into Delta switch from AA
Been AA EP for going on 4 years but was so fed up with delays and ORD figured it was time to give delta a go, also since I start in CWA(Wisconsin) it’s my only option until United comes back in Oct. Completed status match challenge pretty quick to have Plat until end of year and so far here are my feelings nobody asked for:
Info: weekly flyer, to lower 48 with west coast the dominant area
-
MSP is like Disneyland vs Term 3 at ORD. Starting in a regional site know delays are just a fact of life but a 3 hr layover in msp means good beer at stone arch, various stores to wander around in and overall just a nice place to be stuck in.
-
Boarding and deplaning just feel smoother, so many times on AA flights I find myself wondering “how did they person even figure out how to book a flight let alone make it to the airport” I keep waiting for the shine to wear off but so far flights just feel so much have a better experience
-
On Aa if a light is out we deplane or get delayed for hrs, delta just comes on and says “listen engine 2 is not working but we feel good about our chances of making it so let’s do this”
-
I get home faster, thanks to deltas flight times and not always being delayed I can leave LA at 6 am and get home by 3 pm, with AA could leave La at 5 am and still not get home until 6 pm or if a delay hit the next flight would be 11 pm
The bad:
WiFi sucks, on Aa I can work for 3 hrs and never have issues accessing GitHub, doing emails, etc. So far on delta I’m lucky if vpn will even connect let alone stream a song not downloaded to my playlist. Sometimes it’s flawless for an hour and then just poof it’s gone. As typing this watching ChatGPT trying to reconnect for 15 mins to just tweak one batch of code
I’m plat and maybe there is just way more plat people for delta vs AA but I’m normally 20th on upgrade list and don’t even always show high on the list for puddle jumpers, with AA normally top of the list but they might be more related to time plus having the exec card.
Debating getting the delta exec card since miss having aa club but figured see what next year looks like, had already hit EP on AA for next year so make that call start of 2027.
