My NKs think I have a secret second family

Okay so this one is just wild but it genuinely made me laugh today. I nanny for NK2 and NK4. Ive been with them for about eight months now. We have a pretty consistent routine. I drop them off at preschool some days. Pick them up other days. Sometimes we do park visits after school.

Today NK4 asked me with such seriousness if I have a different set of kids and a husband at my 'other house'. I was so confused. I asked her what she meant. She said 'You have your kids here right and then you go home and you have other kids and another husband there'.

I was like 'Oh no sweetie I dont have kids of my own yet and I dont have a husband'. And she looked genuinely shocked. NK2 then pipes up and says 'Yeah nanny has two houses'. Apparently in their little minds because I dont live with them I must have an entirely separate life with an entirely separate family that I go home to every day.

I explained that I just have one house and no kids of my own right now. And that Im their nanny not their mom. They just nodded like they were trying to process it all. I guess it makes some kind of sense when you only ever see someone at your house. They cant quite grasp that my life exists outside of their immediate world. It just cracks me up the things kids come up with.

Has anyone else had kids invent entire other lives for them? What were some of the wildest theories your NKs had about your life outside of nannying?
