HVAC company advised a whole system replacement due to HX corrosion on an 8 year old furnace - are they taking me for a ride? Pics included
Had our annual service done, and the HVAC company said they didn't even bother with a combustion test after seeing the level of corrosion on the HX. Pics are here -
They turned the gas off and recommended immediate replacement.
They also noted a low gas pressure on our downstairs furnace gas valve (6.9 in wc) which was just replaced 2 years ago, which I was surprised by considering it's relatively new. The valve was replaced by a different company (not the one that did the maintenance just now). Going to call the other company and see if they have a warranty.
Both systems are propane, if that makes a difference.
