HPV positive + abnormal Pap while pregnant – looking for experiences

Hi everyone,
I’m 29 and currently 7+0 weeks pregnant. Today I found out that I tested positive for HPV and that my Pap smear was abnormal.
Unfortunately, I was quite overwhelmed when I got the news over the phone and didn’t think to ask for the exact details. So at the moment, I don’t know which HPV type was detected or what my exact Pap result was.
A bit of background:
I was vaccinated against HPV when I was around 12 years old.
About 4 years ago, I tested positive for HPV for the first time.
At the time, my doctor told me that in most cases the body clears the infection on its own within 1–2 years, so I didn’t worry too much about it.
After that, I honestly kind of forgot about it — and apparently my doctor did too. 😅 There wasn’t another Pap/HPV test until this year.
So I was expecting that my body would have cleared the infection by then, as my doctor had told me.
Unfortunately, the new test came back HPV positive again, which was obviously quite unexpected for both me and my doctor.
This time, my Pap smear was also abnormal.
I’m currently 7+0 weeks pregnant.
I have my first ultrasound appointment in a week, and my doctor said we’ll discuss the results and what happens next then.
I know that nobody here can diagnose me, and that I’ll have to wait for my doctor to explain the actual results. But I’m feeling pretty anxious right now, especially because I thought the HPV infection had most likely cleared years ago.
I’d really appreciate hearing from women who have been through something similar — especially during pregnancy.

Did you have a colposcopy, or were you just monitored initially?
What happened to your HPV/Pap results after pregnancy?
If you were vaccinated against HPV as well, did your doctor explain why you could still test positive?
And if you had HPV that persisted for several years, did it eventually clear?
I’m honestly quite worried at the moment, so hearing some personal experiences would really help me get through the next week. ❤️
