Can someone explain the absolutely irrational road rage men seem to have?
I was riding my scooter today. There was a car on my left and I was trying to overtake it when this guy on a bike suddenly came from the opposite direction, on the WRONG side of the road, and squeezed past me. He came so close that he nearly hit me.
And then he yelled at me.
For what? Seriously, for what?
You are coming straight at me from the wrong side of the road, nearly hit me, and somehow *I'm* the one you are angry with?
It is so fucking bizarre. And it happens often enough that I don't think it's just about bad driving. There is this weird entitlement some men have on the road where they can drive however they want, take stupid risks, and then become aggressive with whoever happens to be in their way.
I also hate that as a woman, you have to think twice before reacting. You don't know if some random guy is just going to shout and leave or follow you, block your way, or turn it into something worse. So you end up just taking the abuse and carrying on.
And apparently this isn't entirely anecdotal either. One study of Indian drivers found that men were 2.57 times more likely than women in the study to engage in aggressive driving.
I just don't understand the need to turn every minor situation on the road into a fucking confrontation.
Edit: this isn't a generalisation or whatever. It's a pattern I've observed and have research to back up with.
