6 gauge flanged plug fell out

Hello everyone- this is my first post. Last March I got my ears repierced with 8 gauge plugs. I waited until May of this year to upgrade to 6 gauge. Lately, one of the plugs has been falling “into” my ear, and this morning while doing my regular cleaning it just pushed out with no real force/coercion. I’m afraid it’s going to fall out in my sleep and I’m going to lose the plug. Should I upgrade to a 4 and just hope they stay tighter?
