Medications

Health Care :caduceus:

Hello. I have been on controlled substance medications through the V.A. for a little over 5 years. During that time I have had at least 8 different primary docs because we all know they quit or move. Everytime that has happened my new primary doc just picks up where the last one went off.

I was told my last primary doc was quitting and her last day would be August 30th. So I called in mid August to setup a phone call convo with new doc just to make sure things go smoothly. September 3nd spoke to her and it turns out she is just a registered nurse and she threw a random U.A. on me (and just took one 40 days earlier) and she said she does not prescribe those meds because she doesn't feel comfortable and asked me if I want a new doc. I said let me think about it but next week my refills are due.

So that night I sent a secure message saying if it makes things go smoothly yeah I will take a different doc but I was just figuring a new V.A. Doc. Next day I get a call from V.A. community outreach saying I got a referral to see a civilian doc. I declined it because I had no idea if civilian doc would want me to do a M.R.I. and xrays and the whole work-up before they even contemplated filling my prescriptions. Also i dont know if I would have to pay for them, where i would get them from etc etc. So I sent a secure message saying I would like a different V.A. doc not civilian and they responded that day as well.

Now my refills are several days past due but have aome reserves but not much and have sent 2 other secure messages and 2 calls to pharmacy so they can message the nurse but its nothing but crickets. So my question is do I have any recourse or do I just get the Big Green Weenie Again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
