Entering B.Tech CSE this year — Need a laptop under ₹80k (Core Ultra 5 / MotoBook 60 Pro confusion, wait for BBD or buy now?)
Hey everyone,
I’m joining B.Tech CSE this year and looking for a reliable daily driver that can comfortably last me through the next 4 years of college. My hard budget is ₹80,000.
My core requirements for CSE:
- Good coding performance (VS Code, heavy compilation, running local servers, maybe some Docker/VMs later).
- Decent battery life for college lectures.
- Portability (will be carrying it around campus daily).
- Future-proof specs (preferring Intel Core Ultra 5 for efficiency and AI features).
While browsing options, I came across the Motorola Motobook 60 Pro (Intel Core Ultra 5) which caught my eye because of its specs and build, but I'm hesitant.
Here are my main dilemmas:
- MotoBook 60 Pro vs. Established Brands: Is Motorola reliable long-term for a 4-year engineering stint, or should I stick to traditional reliable options like Lenovo IdeaPad Slim/Pro or ASUS Vivobook/Zenbook with Core Ultra?
- The Big Billion Days (BBD) / Great Indian Festival Dilemma: College has either started or is about to start. Should I buy a laptop right now, or is it worth holding out for the upcoming BBD/Great Indian Festival sales? Will prices actually drop significantly for Core Ultra laptops under 80k, or will stocks run out?
Seniors and tech geeks, please help a fellow fresher out. What should I do, and what models should I actually target under ₹80k? Drop your recommendations! 🙏
