Air-layered 4 nodes how to transfer to semihydro

I'm gonna do a top-cut to start a moss pole system on semihydro/LECA. 4 nodes have more than 2" water roots established in moist spaghnum now.

Question is when I chop, how can I keep the plant (4 leaves) alive since the cut point has not yet rooted.

maybe I cut the bottom-most leaf and use its aerial root that's air layered to stick it into leca?

sorry for rambling. please share if you're experienced on this.
