I think a potato just ruined a perfectly good friendship
So me and my friend were arguing about biryani today.
It started with a very simple question:
Does aloo belong in biryani?
She said yes.
I said absolutely not.
She goes, “Bhai aloo ke baghair biryani adhoori hai.”
I said, “Adhoori? There's literally chicken and meat in it 😭.”
And somehow, instead of just agreeing to disagree like normal people, we ended up turning this into Lahore vs Karachi biryani.
I'm from Lahore, and she's also from Lahore, so technically neither of us had any reason to drag Karachi into this. But obviously we did.
And here's where things got interesting.
She actually thinks Karachi biryani is better than Lahori biryani, partly because Karachi people put aloo in their biryani.
I told her Karachi food is good, no doubt about this. They got their spice games sorted but “ALOO IN BIRYANII IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.” That’s “Aloo waly chawal” not biryani.
She basically took that personally.
Then she started defending aloo like it had personally fought in a war for Pakistan.
And I said this:
“Girls don't eat meat, that's why they think aloo must be in biryani.”
???
At this point the aloo debate isn't even the main issue anymore, lmaoo.
Now we're sending each other “authentic biryani facts”, and neither of us willing to admit we're wrong.
So the people of reddit and this sub, I need you to settle this because apparently we're incapable of doing it ourselves:
1. Aloo in biryani — yes or no?
2. Karachi biryani or Lahori biryani?
3. Is aloo actually an essential part of biryani, or are people just emotionally attached to potatoes?
Don't just tell me which side you're on. Tell me why.
Because I need enough evidence to send her one final message.
And yes, I'm fully prepared to ignore the evidence if you people disagrees with me, lol.
