TIFU: The Unwritten Urinal Rule

I was at the beach last month and went to use the washroom.

I was at a urinal, doing my business. Now, every guy knows the unwritten rule: if there are multiple urinals and there’s an empty one between two people, you use the empty one. You do NOT stand directly beside another guy when there are other urinals available.

Anyway, this guy walks in, looks at all the empty urinals… and chooses the one directly beside me.

I’m thinking, “There’s no way this guy is actually doing this.”
So I told him, “You know there’s kind of a rule about not standing directly beside someone when there are other urinals open, right?”

He didn’t say a word.

He just rolled his eyes, zipped up his pants, and moved to another urinal.

Now I’m wondering… was I wrong for saying something, or is the urinal rule basically common law at this point? 😂

TL;DR: Was I out of pocket?
