What I Personally Did & Learned This Week — Discipline > P&L
This week felt different for me.
I'm still learning. I'm not pretending I've figured out day trading, and that's actually one of the reasons I started this community. I wanted somewhere to post the setups, the good trades, the bad trades, and what I'm learning along the way.
The biggest thing that clicked for me this week was:
Trade the chart, not the money.
I caught myself thinking about how much I could make instead of what the stock was actually doing. When I stayed focused on price action, volume, EMA/VWAP, support and resistance, I made much better decisions.
I also learned that an add has to be earned.
Today on TNON I started with 10 shares at $6.99 and added another 10 at $6.93. It worked out, but looking back, that add was probably my weakest decision of the day. The stock hadn't really proven I deserved to increase my size yet.
Later I traded TNON again at $7.80 and got out at $8.25. Then I got back in with 10 shares at $7.91.
That last trade taught me something more important than the profit.
TNON eventually ripped above $10, halted, reopened, hit around $10.82 and started breaking down. I sold at $9.30.
Nobody told me to sell.
I saw it myself and hit the button.
A few weeks ago I probably would have stared at the P&L, hoped it bounced, or waited for somebody else to tell me what to do. This time I recognized that the chart was changing and acted.
That's progress.
A few other things I'm taking from this week:
Don't chase a vertical candle. A ticker being hot doesn't mean there's an entry. Break + volume + hold is much better than guessing the breakout. Don't add to a loser just because it's cheaper. Resistance is resistance until the stock proves otherwise. Taking a good exit and watching the stock go higher afterward does not make it a bad trade. Losses are part of this. The goal isn't to never lose — it's to stop turning manageable losses into stupid ones. I need to be able to make the decision myself.
That's probably my biggest takeaway.
I'm using tools, charts, scanners, other traders, and this community to learn — but ultimately it's my mouse and my money.
This week I trusted myself a little more than I did last week.
That's a win I'll take.
Find the setup. Take the move. Manage the risk. Learn from it. Repeat.
SCALP THE MOVE.
