How to fish?

Hi all, I’d like to learn.
Don’t know nothing about anything, besides I’d need a rod, some quiet and some fish.

Any tips very appreciated - gear recs, techniques and form, anything.

I live in Austin Tx and some fishing spots recommendations would be awesome as well.
