Am I missing something when it comes to the slime hutch?

Genuinely, I'm trying to understand what's the point of the slime hutch. Not only do I see it as pointless, I see it as a waste of time and important resources. Nothing justifies having a steady source of slime when you can just go into a hostile environment and destroy them to get the slime. Maybe possibly it's for aesthetics but then what's the point of it because you could only enjoy it for a short time because you have so much other stuff to do in a day. Then just stand in front of or inside of the hutch and watch the slimes. There's no benefit to it. You have so much other stuff to do per day. You can't just spend the whole day standing in front of or inside of the hutch. If you just want to look at it, get a picture. There's no point in having it on your farm. There's no benefit that justifies it being there or the resources that were used to make it. I'm genuinely wondering who asked for this mechanic Cuz I don't see or understand how this could be desirable to anybody
