Why do some white people think of Asians dyeing their hair blonde or wanting pale skin as trying to look white?

I’m Asian, living in an Asian mono-ethnic country, I bleached my hair blonde and posted pictures of me with blonde hair on Reddit the other day, and people on the Reddit told me to stop trying to look white and everybody knew me as Asian anyway.

I dyed my hair blonde not because I want to look white, it’s because I have dark thick eyebrow and blonde hair would make them standout, and I want to look unique and gangster, I dont even live in a country where white people exists so why would I try to look white-passing?

So is with Asians trying to or wanting to have pale skin, it’s because of an aesthetic choice, signalling class, not because they want to look like white people
