Y’all, this love of my life bucked me off today. I’ve never come off of him due to his care with me (& a good seat). As we’re working harder lately, I pushed him to continue a fast canter today.

As soon as he understood I’d asked him to continue another 40 yards or so, he either tripped, or pretended to trip, & then flipped me off his back with a springy double buck.

I’ve stayed on through challenging circumstances, surprising myself often, but I don’t think there was anything I could’ve done to stay on today!

He was munching the grass before I even got up, which was fast. That’s part of my thinking it was on purpose.

He’s 18, Friesian / TB cross, generally happy, often complains about work but we always end up enjoying something in it together— me more, I’m sure. I’ve already been worried about that. He’s looking great with the exercise though!

I don’t ride more than 3x/ week, and am 62, so largely unable to push super hard. He really wants to make the decisions, which is why he loves poles & low jumping, but we weren’t practicing that today.

Any suggestions welcome, but please no lectures. I want the best for him, and always have. Including a year lease at first, I’ve ridden & loved him 8 years now. Began lessons age 49– am no expert.

Finally came off! Please help
