Nip nap all the time? Help please

Discussion

I really enjoyed the "nip nap" term from the recent post on here..! Unfortunately I'm struggling with this a little and am looking to see what others are doing.

My almost 12wk old loves a nip nap. We nurse to sleep almost always and she seems like she's starting to really rely on it, especially if I'm the one trying to get her to nap or sleep. She used to sleep in her carrier wrap really well but now fights it a bit and only sleeps for 20-30 minutes, where previously we could take an hour walk and she'd sleep the entire time. My husband can get her to sleep for her first nap in the morning without relying on feeding or pacifier. As far as pacifiers go, she only consistently takes one when we're driving in the car - otherwise very unlikely.

So to my problem... I don't mind a nip nap, but lately she will pull her head back when falling asleep. This pulls at my nipple and she unlatches which results in her rooting around with her eyes closed until she latches again. This will happen multiple times and doesn't seem like she's getting a good nap. Does anyone struggle with this? Will she settle down in time or should I wean the nip nap in this case?

My other problem with the reliance on nip nap... Our bedtime routine consists of white noise, diaper change, pj, swaddle, book, and nurse to sleep. Baby has had reflux issues so we hold her upright for 15min once she's passed out before transferring her to bassinet. This usually is fine but lately, she's been restless when upright and starts rooting around for the nip again. I'm worried the nip naps and nursing to sleep will result in difficulty sleeping in bassinet overnight. Has anyone nursed to sleep and had it become a problem for transferring to independent sleep?

All advice appreciated!
