Got T1 diabetes, I am upset with other peoples reaction.

Type 1

I went to the doctor for a routine checkup, and asked for an a1c test. T1 diabetes runs in my immediate family, and I have always known I may have it. It was 6.8, he wanted additional testing and assured me it is probably not T1 diabetes, but I was unsure. I have (since 18-19 years old) eaten veg every day, and lower sweets and carbs. Got tested, the official Dx is T1 diabetes. When I had my checkup, the provider looked so nervous about his responses, but I just had a few questions. The provider did say that this was caught this in the very early "honeymoon phase" (I did not believe this was the actual term), and won't need meds/insulin for a few years. They had a CGM sample, and informed me to eat healthier.

The issue: I have a CGM visible at work/people overhear/I feel they need to know, but when I tell people I have diabetes, they freak out, apologize profusely, or generaly dont know how to react. Sometime they try to offer advice, and I understand that this reaction is probably normal, but I just wish I could say, "I have diabetes", and they take it informatively or say, "thank you for telling me", or, "ya my weekend was crazy too."

My favorite response, was a coworker who said, "Kowabummer dude' in a thick surfer dude accent. Shoutout to him. Genuinely pumped me up for the rest of the day.

TLDR: I wish people wouldn't apologize, and instead focused on the information I gave them.
