Pet tortoise suggestions

Hello! I’ve been doing lots of research on my own, but nothing beats the opinions of redditors. We are wanting to get a pet tortoise. We live in Central Florida. We’re looking to have an outdoor enclosure. We have a good sized backyard and don’t mind making a cool enclosure spot/whatever he needs in the yard. That being said- what species would be best for outdoors in central Florida? He’d be an outside tortoise but wouldn’t mind bringing him in to hangout or if there’s a hurricane/freeze etc. I’d love one that’s social if possible. We’d probably let him roam the yard whenever we’re outback (which is often). We’re open to adopting an adult that needs rehoming.
Anyways just looking for species advice.
