Books where the mc overcomes deep rooted parental trauma

I want to get back into reading and I need something positive to stick my brain on. I'm looking for a story where the mc (any gender) overcomes a lifetime of trauma seeded from parental abuse. Can be dark and violent or lighthearted, preferably a fantasy fiction that'll last a few days to read. Thanks!
