Please help I'm not sure what to do

I'm not sure if I have to many clothes for my kiddos or to many in one closet. I have 3 little ones and they all share a closet and a dresser. Both are very full. What I need tips on is whenever I clean laundry and dry it it comes out smelling great. But I noticed clothes that have been sitting in their drawers or closet for a little longer smell kinda like a stale smell. Do I have to much in one space? I am a little heavy handed on laundry detergent and I just recently stopped using those scent beads because they were making my youngest kiddo break out. Any tips would be great!
