The girl who had a crush on me just unfollowed me
A girl confessed to me four months ago that she's had a crush on me for 8 years, sharing childhood memories from middle school and admitting she dreamed about me, but explicitly said she knew we had no future and just needed to tell me so she could move on. Panicking out of fear and ego, I sent a dry, dismissive reply downplaying her feelings and debating her memories. I didn't care that much before her text, but after her confession, I ended up occasionally watching her Instagram stories, and over the past few weeks, I couldn't stop thinking about her and started binge-checking her highlights—though I honestly don't know if I have genuine feelings or if I'm just hooked on the validation. Just as I thought about reaching out, I noticed she unfollowed me yesterday to protect her peace. Now I'm stuck, terrified that messaging her now will make me look desperate, awkward, or intrusive. I don't know whether to just take the L and leave her alone, or if I should reach out—and if I do message her, what on earth do I even say to not make it completely awkward?
