"She's more fey than human" Elusive Hostess?
I've been reading/skimming over my husband's shoulder. It's his first read and my third. In book 5 Dec 7th something jumped out at me now that I've read the Gazettes, especially Elusive Soul. It takes place at the artist party Saffronia takes Emma. The hostess isn't named.
"I met the hostess. In a whirlwind of faces came a flash of elegance. Eyes of some otherworldly hue set in a pale face, cheekbones rising with her smile, and dark hair the colour of polished cherry wood. She took my hand as Saffronia made introductions. “Bold women wear silver gowns.” And she was off. “She wasn’t born in our time,” I told Saffronia as we watched her gracefully weave through the room. “She’s too beautiful.” “Her husband claims she’s more fey than human,” Saffronia remarked.""
You don't give a character dialogue without a reason. Could this be Mrs Hawkes? The dialogue feels similar to him. A short line where she reveals knowledge of Emma's character, then moves on. She "wasn't born in our time" and Emma slips through time. And I can totally see W saying that line about his wife. It very much fits with the letter. M is/was a poet and exchanged art with Declan. Now that her boys are out of the house she could move more freely. If it is her she must have the same reasons as Young Hawkes for not revealing the connection, whatever those reasons are. Though a party you are hosting wouldn't be a good time it would be easy to give an invite for tea.
