38M | Chicago | Seeking a Thoughtful & Genuine Relationship

Location: North America

Not every successful marriage has to look the same. I believe there are people who genuinely want commitment, companionship, and a meaningful marriage without necessarily merging every aspect of their lives - and that's the kind of relationship I'm hoping to find.

I'm looking for a genuine, committed marriage with a "living apart together" arrangement - where we maintain separate households and responsibilities while intentionally building a meaningful relationship as husband and wife.

The goal isn't convenience or something casual. I want a lasting partnership where we're consistently present in each other's lives while also respecting the lives and responsibilities we've already established.

  • A friendship that grows into a strong marriage
  • Honest communication and emotional availability
  • Staying in touch regularly through messages and phone calls
  • Being dependable during both the easy and difficult seasons of life
  • Treating each other with kindness, respect, and patience

In practical terms, I envision us maintaining our own homes while making time for one another consistently. I'd love to spend time together throughout the week, share experiences, celebrate important occasions together, and remain an active and supportive presence in each other's lives. Living separately shouldn't mean living separate lives.

I also want to be upfront about finances. Because we would maintain separate households, I'm hoping to meet someone who is already financially established and comfortable maintaining her own household. I can contribute financially, but I'm not in a position to assume full financial responsibility for a second household. I'd want us to have an open and honest conversation about what financial support would look like so that our expectations are clear and the arrangement feels reasonable and sustainable for both of us.

This may appeal to someone who:

  • Values independence while still wanting a committed husband
  • Has an established career, her own home, family obligations, or a lifestyle she doesn't necessarily want to uproot
  • Is financially established and comfortable maintaining her own household with defined contribution from me
  • Wants genuine companionship, affection, stability, and emotional connection
  • Appreciates clear expectations and honest communication
  • Lives in the Midwest, or is comfortable navigating some distance if we connect well

I also want to be transparent about something important: I'm already married, and my wife knows that I'm pursuing a polygynous marriage. Anyone who reaches out should be sincerely comfortable with that reality. I'm not looking to hide anyone or build a relationship around secrecy.

I understand that this kind of marriage won't be right for everyone, and that's completely fine. I'm looking for someone for whom this arrangement genuinely fits what she wants from marriage - not someone who feels she has to settle for less than what she actually wants.

If this sounds like something you'd be open to, I'd enjoy learning more about you - your personality and interests, the life you've built, and what you hope to find in a husband and marriage. Genuine conversations and thoughtful questions are welcome.

I won't entertain debates in the comments on if this arrangement is right for everyone.
