Why is X filled with the most vile angry hateful humans?

I naively thought most people were generally balanced, thoughtful, decent human beings… until I downloaded X two nights ago and realized how many genuinely angry, aggressive, hateful people are out there.
Are these bots? Do they all just congregate on X? Or are they walking around acting completely normal during the day and saving this version of themselves for the internet? It’s really depressing.
