I met this Italian friend while traveling in Granada, Spain, but we had to part ways because our schedules didn't match. Fast forward a bit, and I’m just wandering around Porto when I casually check IG stories and realize she’s *also* in Porto! We both freaked out, immediately texted, and ended up meeting up again.

We spent the day hunting down local food—grabbed some traditional northern-style Bifana (that messy, delicious pork sandwich drowned in rich sauce) and hit up Manteigaria for some egg tarts loaded with cinnamon and coffee. We just walked everywhere, checking out the Victoria viewpoint and wandering up and down both sides of the Dom Luís I Bridge.

By sunset, we grabbed a cold beer and just sat across the bridge looking over the Douro River. Moments like that make you realize why you travel.

It’s such a surreal feeling—strangers who would never cross paths in normal life suddenly sharing a slice of their lives in some random alleyway across the world, only to split ways again. Who knows when or if we'll ever cross paths again, but it makes me feel like we'll probably bump into each other somewhere else down the road.

Shot a little video of the day while walking through Porto. Has anyone else had these kinds of crazy accidental reunions while traveling?

It’s crazy how travel works out sometimes.
