My bf left me at the ER
Recently I (28F) thought I had appendicitis. The pain wasn't terrible, but the symptoms were mirroring what I was reading online. My bf (25) convinced me to go to urgent care. The doc at urgent care said, yeah, it's classic appendicitis and, surprise, you also have a teratoma on your ovary. She said to head over to the ER. My bf took me over, and we ended up waiting for an hour or two in a room before seeing, surprise, billing first. It was late at this point, maybe 11pm. My bf was hungry and the dogs needed to be fed and taken out. My phone was also at 5%. I told him he should grab some food, see the dogs, grab a charger, and come back. I said I would use the little power I had to call in case I went into surgery. So, he leaves. Several hours go by. It's 4 am. The doc comes in and says, nah, no appendicitis but I should probably do something about the teratoma. I get discharged and go outside to call my bf. No answer after 5ish calls. And then my phone dies. I had an appointment in a few hours. I waited about 30 minutes, hard to tell without a phone or watch, and then decided to walk home. It's about a 40-50 minute walk in very hot, humid darkness. I see his car outside. I knock (I didn't bring my keys since I expected he'd be with me), and he answers after a bit. He'd been sleeping and his ringer was off. He seems apologetic, but he doesn't really express it well. I didn't get upset at him, I was exhausted after everything that happened that night. Since then, I can't shake feeling so unimportant to someone that calls me the love of their life. I know he feels bad, but I needed someone that night. I'm not sure how I should feel. We both work demanding jobs, so I know he was exhausted and probably accidentally fell asleep. I just can't imagine if the roles were reversed not going back to the hospital or at least turning up my ringer to make sure I didn't miss a call. I brought up that I do not feel like a priority sometimes, and this was a really big example of that. How do I move forward with this?
