Global Talent Approved (Exceptional Promise, Arts Council England)- Overall Experience (Timeline and Process - Living in the UK)
Hello everyone,
I successfully have been granted my Global Talent Visa- Exceptional Promise via Arts Council England Endorsement!
2 years ago, I made a post about my experience applying for the Youth Mobility Visa while living in Canada. I figured I would also outline my experience applying for the Global Talent while living in the UK. I hope this is useful to somebody who is seeking some clarity around applying for endorsement via Arts Council England. Please note I did this whole process on my own, no lawyers.
What I Applied for/Got Endorsed For:
- Global Talent- Exceptional Promise (5-year track)
- Field- Theatre
- Endorsing Body- Arts Council England
Timelines
- May 1st, 2026- Applied for Stage 1
- May 20th, 2026- Application for endorsement was received and sent to Arts Council England
- July 19th, 2026- Endorsement Letter received
- September 4th, 2026- Applied for Stage 2 with priority (I waited as I was in and out of the country for July and August)
- September 7th, 2026- Biometrics submitted
- September 8th, 2026- Visa granted
Resources
- Please ensure you are checking the ACE website regarding what is required for your Stage 1 Application. The requirements for this Visa Route have shifted over the past few years. Link to the official page is here: https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/global-talent-visa/global-talent-visa-guidance#t-in-page-nav-1
- Read it, read it again, and when you think you've read it enough, read it again. While you do your application, reference the page and read the individual sections while you prep your application. It is a lifesaver.
- When you submit your Stage 1 evidence to GlobalTalentEndorsements, you will get an email stating timelines, and in my email it emphasized that a large number of applicants are not properly reading the guidelines provided by ACE. Read them.
Application Process
The application process for this visa is quite tedious and takes some time- especially if you are applying with a more managerial discipline. Give yourself the time to really think it through and to gather everything you will need prior to submitting Stage 1.
General Notes/Thoughts
After reading the ACE guidelines, I started piecing out what type of evidence I wanted to submit, made a list of people to contact for my letters of support and additional letters to support my evidence, brushed up my CV, and started working on formatting. As I gathered my evidence and letters, I started organizing them in a way that told my story and ending on my strongest pieces of evidence under each separate evidence category.
Please note that not everyone would necessarily need additional letters to prove pieces of evidence. This was crucial for my application, as my practice in my field is managerial (Production Management), which is a role that is rarely highlighted and/or individually indicated in all three evidence categories (media recognition, awards, and proof of appearances). Again, read the guidelines and make notes on whether the additional letter is beneficial to prove your contribution to your evidence. There are guidelines to what the letters should contain as well.
Stage 1- Endorsement Application
After creating my plan of action and the documents needed, I submitted my Stage 1. Please note that you cannot pay for priority service for Stage 1 applications.
It is much easier to have all your documents gathered prior to submitting your Stage 1 Application, as it asks you to outline your evidence and your contacts for your letters of support.
After submission, it prompts you to pay your endorsement application fee. When payment is confirmed, you'll get a checklist that indicates what you will be providing to your endorsing body in a specific order. It is advised that you submit your evidence in the order listed on the checklist.
An email is provided in which you send all the elements in your checklist. Follow the guidelines outlined for the subject line. Once sent, an automatic email will be sent to you indicating that your email has been sent to the correct address. It will have updated information on timelines and prompts to ensure you have followed what is needed for your endorsing body. Read it in full to ensure you have the most up-to-date information. This email is not an indicator that your application has been sent to your endorsing body; this will be a separate email after Global Talent Endorsements processes your application.
Once they process your submission, you will get an email confirming the documents you submitted.
It will then confirm that your application has been sent to your endorsing body and will outline an update timeline for receiving a decision.
Please check that the total number of documents they outlined in their email is correct. I noticed they missed a piece of evidence, and I immediately contacted them. It was quickly fixed and sent along with the rest of my application to ACE.
Stage 1- Endorsement Letter Decision
There seems to be a varying timeline for receiving endorsement decisions due to the higher volume of applications ACE has been receiving. The standard processing time under ACE is 8 weeks, but in my confirmation email, it was advised that it could take up to 12 weeks.
I received my Endorsement right on the 8-week mark.
Stage 2- Visa Application
I applied for my Stage 2 separately after ensuring I received my endorsement. There is an opportunity for you to apply to both Stage 1 and 2 at the same time, but if your Stage 1 is rejected, your Stage 2 will also be rejected because you need an endorsement for a valid visa application. I did not feel comfortable with that risk, so I gave myself plenty of time for the Stage 1 process decision in case I did not get endorsed.
Stage 2 is the actual visa. You'll be required to pay the visa application fee, along with your IHS fees. There is an opportunity to pay for priority or super priority service if that option pops up as available in your application process. I selected priority due to the standard wait time without priority being approximately an 8-week period.
You'll get your checklist of documents you must provide, one being your endorsement letter.
Biometrics
After submitting Stage 2, I booked my biometrics and went to my appointment on September 7th, 2026. The process took about 20 minutes in total.
You'll receive an email indicating that your biometrics have been received and your application has been sent to UKVI.
Stage 2- Visa Application Decision
I received my decision the next day on September 8th, 2026!
There was a bit of a hiccup prior to getting my final visa decision. I made a separate post about this, but will quickly outline below in case it happens to anyone else:
-
I received an email outlining my visa was invalid as I was not endorsed by ACE on the date I specified. Confused, I quickly checked my endorsement letter to ensure I did not make a mistake, and the date they outlined was the date that matched my letter.
-
I sent a letter to Global Talent Endorsements immediately outlining my confusion and asked if there was anything that I was missing beyond the letter. They quickly looked into it and found a mismatch in the system where my application was accidentally marked as not endorsed. It was fixed immediately, and within 30 minutes I received my successful application email.
I hope this is useful for anyone applying, and best of luck!
