How do you keep up with leads when you're a solo founder?
I'm a solo founder running a small agency, and I'm struggling with something that I honestly didn't expect to be such a big problem: following up with leads.
I'm getting a few inbound and outbound leads, so getting leads isn't really my biggest issue right now.
The problem is actually managing them after they come in.
I have to handle sales, client work, admin, operations, etc. When a lead asks me a question, sometimes I can't get back to them quickly enough. Then a few days pass, I forget to follow up, and eventually the conversation just dies.
The frustrating part is that I actually have good leads. I just can't consistently keep them warm.
I've thought about hiring someone to handle lead follow-up, but I'm worried about hiring someone who isn't good enough or doesn't understand the business. I've also considered using an agency or outsourcing it, but honestly I'm confused about what the right solution is.
I've tried keeping things organized myself, but as the number of conversations increases, I just can't keep up.
For other solo founders or small agency owners:
How do you handle lead follow-ups and lead management?
Do you:
- Hire a VA/SDR?
- Use a CRM and automate follow-ups?
- Outsource sales?
- Use an agency?
- Have some kind of AI system handling it?
- Or just accept that some leads will fall through?
I'd really appreciate hearing what has actually worked for you.
I'm mainly looking for a way to respond faster, follow up consistently, and stop losing potentially good leads without having to spend my entire day managing a CRM.
Would love to hear how other founders are solving this.
