Old friend

So playing through borderlands 4 new story pack fl4k and the last resort and decided to do a side quest called "Old friend" its a super quick mission to the point it threw me off. And I think thats the point? But it left me with so many questions, anyone else run that side quest and are we supposed to know who that was or will we eventually know

I also just want to share my thoughts on the game and narratively where we are at now that I beat the base game as well but that'll be a different post
