2016 Show

Hey I was wondering if the 2016 show was worth watching. Correct me if im wrong but it takes place after the golden age? other than the animation, voice acting, etc is it really as bad as people say? would i miss out on any of the story at all? im not looking for "read the manga" btw i js wanna know if the 2016 show is a valid representation of the story
