My bf said we need a “Temporary Separation” because he turned 18.

My boyfriend told me(17F) that we should break up until my 18th birthday because he’s an adult now.

He said that he heard a story from a friend where a guy got arrested because his gf was 17 and he was 18… We live in California and the age of consent is 18 years old.

He’s being distant and keeps saying “I can’t talk about that with a minor.”
I get the point but it’s really annoying his birthday was September and mine is November.

I researched it and I just says it’s okay as long as there’s no sexual activity. But he said he doesn’t want to go to jail.
